Easter morning. A young woman, wearing a navy cotton dress, a white J. Crew Cardigan, and pearls, has just spent three hours at church for Easter Sunday services. Crossing my fingers for an early release (they do those the Friday before long weekends, huzzah), which means only a couple more hours before I'm out and gone.

For those who don't know (and don't follow my mom's LJ), today is Patriot's Day. It's a holiday for some skewed half of New England; schools are on school vacation, and some businesses and universities consider it a holiday. We went to church this morning; Dad and I rushing out of the house at 10:40 to get there in time to find a seat. We sang all the familiar hymns, of course, so wonderful. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Officially rung in with a bottle of champagne..... that my friend opened ALL OVER HIMSELF. The sucker explooooooded. And splashed huge droplets over our floor and couch. WIN. Thankfully, he made for the paper towels in appropriately speedy fashion, so now we're just shaking our heads at him.
